APPOINTMENTS HELD AND UNITS SERVED
1. Rear Admiral Kehinde John Odubanjo, mni, psc(+), was born on 4 April 1970 into the family of the late Oba Joseph Odubanjo. He was admitted into the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of the 41 Regular Combatant Course in September 1989, where he studied Mathematics and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He was awarded the Indian Shield Award as the Best Cadet in Naval Operations upon graduation. He was commissioned into the Nigerian Navy (NN) on 17 September 1994 as a Sub-Lieutenant.
2. In the course of his military career, the Senior Officer undertook all mandatory professional courses such as the Specialisation Course in Above Water Warfare at the Indian Navy Ship DRONACHARYA, Kochi, India, in 2001, where he graduated with Distinction and received the award for Best Foreign Officer on the course. He also served as a Member of the Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji–Kaduna, from 2009 to 2011. He later served as Chief Instructor and subsequently as Director, Department of Maritime Warfare, at the same College from 2021 to 2022.
3. He was a member of Senior Executive Course 38 in 2016 at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru–Jos, where he served as Chairman of Study Group Six and graduated with a ‘B’ Grade. In recognition of his performance, he was posted back to NIPSS as a Moderator/Directing Staff to impart knowledge to other distinguished fellows.
4. Throughout his military career, he held various appointments, including Commander, NNS LUGARD, Lokoja, Kogi State, in 2022. He also served as Fleet Commander, Eastern Fleet, Nigerian Navy (2023 – January 2024); Deputy Chief of Defence Space Administration (2024 – February 2025); and Director, Operations Training, Naval Headquarters, from February to November 2025. He is presently the Director General of the Defence Research and Development Bureau.
