1.​   Commodore James Aliyu Pindar hails from Garkida in Gombi LGA of Adamawa State. Pindar is a Regular Combatant Officer and a member of the 37 Regular Course from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna. He is a Specialist in Underwater Warfare and Tactics. Pindar have held severally appointments in the Nigerian Navy and excelled with award winning records. James attended the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Nigeria for both his Junior and Senior Division Staff Courses. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the NDA and a Masters Degree in National Security Administration from the National Defence College of Philippines. Additionally, he holds a Masters Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. James possesses a Diploma in Public Procurement from the Public Procurement Research Centre, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria. Pindar was also at the Harvard Kennedy School, Boston for the Senior Executive course in Advance International Security Management. Pindar also possess a Post Graduate Diploma in Shipping Management from the Chartered Institute of Shipping Lagos.      
2.​   Commodore Pindar attended the Peace Keeping Course in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Management and the United Nations Military Observers Course at the Nigerian Army Peace Keeping Centre Jaji, Nigeria.  The officer held several appointments including Commanding Officer Nigerian Navy Ship BRASS; Assistant Director Peace Keeping Operations Naval Headquarters Abuja; Assistant Director Crisis Management Defence Headquarters Abuja; Deputy Director Combat Policy and Tactics Naval Headquarters Abuja; Command Administration Officer Naval Training Command Headquarters Lagos; Deputy Director Procurement Defence Headquarters Abuja; Deputy Director Psychological Warfare Defence Headquarters Abuja, Director of Safety and Standards at the Naval Headquarters and presently, Director Development and Production at the Defence Research and Development Bureau. 
3.   Commodore Pindar is a member of severally committees involved in countering terrorism and anti-piracy. Pindar was a member of the inter-ministerial committee that drafted the National Maritime Strategy (NMS) for the implementation of Africa’s Integrated Maritime Strategy (AIMS) 2050. The AIMS Strategy is to provide a broad framework for the protection and sustainable exploitation of the Africa’s Maritime Domain (AMD) for wealth creation, which is a direct product of cross-cutting inputs from African experts including NGOs, the academia, regional economic communities and AU Member States. Pindar was a member of the committee that reviewed the Policy Framework and National action plan for preventing and countering violent extremism in Nigeria. The Policy Framework is aimed at strengthening ongoing efforts in handling of persons associated with violent extremism in Nigeria such as Operation SAFE CORRIDOR, the Nigerian Prison De-radicalisation Programme, collaboration with Civil Society in community engagements and resilience building, strategic communication activities and effective prosecution, rehabilitation and reintegration of violent extremist offenders.
4.​   Commodore James Pindar was also a member of the National Committee that established a National Peace Commission in Nigeria. The Commission and Agencies are expected to facilitate the peaceful co-existence of Nigerians living in communities ravaged by conflicts as well as resolve ethno-religious tensions. He is also a member of the Nigerian/Cameroon Trans-border Security Committee with the aim of resolving security issues bothering on insurgency, terrorism, drug/human trafficking, piracy, poaching, smuggling, proliferation of light weapons, maritime/land border disputes, amongst others in accordance with international law at bi-lateral level. 
5.​   Commodore James Aliyu Pindar has also participated in several seminars/workshops and public discussions on critical issues bothering on National Security.  These include a 3 days training workshop on ‘Conflict sensitive communication for the media and information officers of security and response agencies in the North East’ in Maiduguri, Borno State Nigeria by the Presidential Committee of the North East Initiative. The workshop appraised the role of conflict sensitive communication in addressing violent extremism in the North East. Pindar also took part in a ‘National conversation on bridging the humanitarian development - Peace Nexus (HDPN)’ organized by the Ministry of Budget and National Planning in partnership with the World Bank and the Emergency Coordination Centre. In attendance Federal Government Ministries, members of the National Assembly, State Governors, delegates from a wide range of government bodies, Ambassadors, Heads of Development Cooperation and Heads of Global International Organisations. Additionally, Commodore Pindar attended a 5 weeks International Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Piracy Course in Pensacola Florida. James Pindar is also a Certified Fellow of Occupational Safety & Health Association UK (OSHA UK).
6.​   Commodore Pindar is  also a sports enthusiast. Presently, he is the Coordinator of the Chief of the Naval Staff Spikers Volleyball Club, the FCT Volleyball Chairman, Patron of the Defence Spikers Volleyball Club and Patron of the Thriller Volleyball Club in Abuja. Commodore James Aliyu Pindar is happily married with 3 daughters and his other hobbies include Reading and watching football and Adventures.
